# Commands and permissions

All ArcMenu commands live under `/arcmenu` with full in-game Tab completion. In the tables below, `<argument>` indicates a required parameter and `[argument]` indicates an optional one.

## Player commands

Players use these commands during everyday gameplay to open menus, adjust personal cursor settings, and control Effects.

| Command | Required permission | Description and arguments |
| ------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/arcmenu open <menu-id>` | `arcmenu.use` and the menu's own permission | Opens the menu with the specified ID (such as `/arcmenu open main` for the default main menu) or a registered extension route. |
| `/arcmenu close` | None | Closes the player's currently open menu, Effect cutscene, or editor session. |
| `/arcmenu mode`                                   | `arcmenu.use`                                 | Displays the player's active input mode and the server's global input policy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            |
| `/arcmenu mode <touch\|mouse\|vision>` | `arcmenu.use` | Switches input mode. Accepts `touch`, `mouse`, or `vision` (`vision` requires the matching ArcMenu Editor client mod for the player's game version). Also supports the legacy alias `/arcmenu mouse` and legacy mode names `crosshair` and `cursor`. |
| `/arcmenu sensitivity [set\|add\|clear] [value]` | `arcmenu.use` | Views or adjusts personal mouse sensitivity without changing the server's global config. Run without arguments to view the current level and multiplier; `set <1..9>` sets a specific level (default is `5`); `add <delta>` adds or subtracts levels (such as `1` or `-1`); `clear` resets to level `5`. |
| `/arcmenu cursor-scale [set\|add\|clear] [value]` | `arcmenu.use`                                 | Views or adjusts personal cursor size. Uses the exact same arguments as `sensitivity`, supporting levels `1` through `9` and `clear` to reset.                                                                                                                                                           |
| `/arcmenu effect <effect-id>`                     | `arcmenu.effect` and the project's permission | Plays the specified Effect cutscene.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     |
| `/arcmenu effect <stop\|pause\|resume>`           | `arcmenu.effect`                              | Stops (`stop`), pauses (`pause`), or resumes (`resume`) the player's currently playing Effect.                                                                                                                                                                                                           |
| `/arcmenu market`                                 | `arcmenu.market`                              | Opens the in-game ArcPack marketplace interface (requires the companion Editor client mod; `/arcmenu marketplace` is also accepted).                                                                                                                                                                     |

To open a menu, a player must have both `arcmenu.use` and any `permission` configured inside that menu file. For details on personal sensitivity levels, cursor scale multipliers, and their placeholders, see [Touch, Mouse and Vision input](/en/feature-configuration/input-modes.md).

## Administrator commands

All administrator commands require the `arcmenu.admin` permission, which is granted to server operators (OPs) by default.

### Menu control and routine maintenance

| Command | Console allowed | Description and arguments |
| ----------------------------------------------- | --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/arcmenu force-open <menu-id> <online-player>` | Yes | Opens a menu for the specified online player, bypassing both `arcmenu.use` and the menu's `permission` check for this opening without altering the player's actual permissions. |
| `/arcmenu refresh <online-player> [element-id]` | Yes | Immediately refreshes placeholders and dynamic content in the target player's open menu. Omit `[element-id]` to refresh the entire menu, or specify an element ID to refresh only that element. |

| `/arcmenu reload all` | Yes | Performs a full reload: includes everything in `reload`, reloads `templates/`, and rebuilds the ArcMenu resource pack. |
| `/arcmenu resources` | Yes | Rescans images, GIFs, and cursor settings and rebuilds the resource pack (alias: `/arcmenu resourcepack`). |

| `/arcmenu templates` | Yes | Lists the IDs of all currently loaded frontend templates. |

| `/arcmenu update` | Yes | Checks the version manifest immediately and reports if a newer release is available. |

When a menu defines a root permission such as `permission: myserver.menu.vip`, a player needs both `arcmenu.use` and `myserver.menu.vip` to open it. If you want players who lack `myserver.menu.vip` to be redirected automatically to an informational or upgrade menu, configure `permission-denied-menu` in that menu; see [Menu document structure](/en/menu-configuration/menus.md) for details.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.myarc.icu/en/configuration-and-administration/commands-permissions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
